Installation Methods of Steam Traps (I)

Different steam traps have different installation methods. Some should be installed horizontally, such as FT14 /FT44 Lever Ball Float Steam Trap. Some can be installed vertically and horizontally like TD42 Thermodynamic steam trap. Here are some illustrations for Different Steam Trap Installation Methods.

           a) is good,   b) is not good

In System b), Steam trap was installed above the bypass valve, then Condensate water needs to be transited upwards which made it difficult to drain the condensate completely.

In System c), the Water Drain Valve should be installed at the bottom of the Steam Trap. The Water Drain Valve should keep fully open when  steam trap works to drain the residual condensate in the pipelines.
