Selection Methods of Steam Trap Models

Users should combine the Steam Trap Selection Principle and the exact Condensate Condition of that steam pipelines to choose correct steam trap model. Generally, there are 3 basic steam trap selection principles.

1. Confirm the Steam Trap Model according to the Features of the Heating Equipment and the User's requirement for the Steam Condensate.

    a) For those Heating Equipment which required highest heating rate and strict heating temperature controlling, users should choose the steam trap which can drain      the condensate water continuously so as to keep the heating equipment  dry and won't be affected by the steam condensate. Under this condition, Mechnical Steam Traps like  Free Float Steam Trap, Lever Ball Float Steam Trap and Inverted Bucket Steam Trap are better choices.

   b) For those Heating Equipment which has huge heating  Area and lower requirement for the heating rate and heating temperature controling, Thermostatic Steam Traps like Bimetallic Steam Trap, Bellow Type Steam Trap and Capsule Type Steam Trap are better choices.

2. Confirm the Nominal Pressure and the Material of the steam trap according to the Maximum Working Pressure and the HIghest Working Temperature of the steam pipelies.

Generally Carbon Steel Material is used for the temperature lower than 425 Deg C. If the Max Working Temperature is higher than 425 Deg C, then Alloyed Steel or stainless steel  is suggested.

3. Confirm the Steam Trap exact Specification according to the Discharge Capacity of the Condensate Water.

    In addition to trap the pressure , temperature and other parameters should match the equipment conditions used , the traps of various displacement under pressure , it is an important factor in choosing a trap . If the selected small displacement trap installed , it can not arrive in time to exclude all the condensate trap , the condensed water backflow obstruction will eventually cause plugging , make the device significantly reduce the heating efficiency .Instead , the choice of displacement will cause much of a hydrophobic wear and premature failure of the valve closure member . With the valve increases, the manufacturing cost will increase , which is uneconomical . Therefore, the condensation of water produced by the equipment or pipeline must be correctly measured or calculated according to formula , providing conditions for the correct selection of traps .
