Structural Principle
The orifice plate throttling device, transmitter, and flow calculation unit form the orifice plate flowmeter. With the continuous development of computer technology, the performance and accuracy of instruments such as transmitters and flow computers have greatly improved. Therefore, the range of the orifice flowmeter can also be made very wide, even reaching 100:1.
The flow measurement range of an orifice flowmeter can be expanded or migrated within a certain range by adjusting the diameter of the orifice opening or the range of the supporting transmitter. Other types of flow meters can only be replaced with other range flow meters when encountering situations beyond the measurement range. The characteristic of orifice flow meters is widely used in situations where the measured flow rate varies widely.
The orifice flowmeter with symmetrical orifice plates as throttling components, coupled with corresponding transmitters and flow calculation units, can also achieve bidirectional fluid metering.
Working Principle
The fluid filled with the pipeline flows through the throttling device inside the pipeline, and the flow beam will form a local contraction at the throttling component, thereby increasing the flow rate and reducing the static pressure. As a result, a static pressure difference, known as differential pressure, is generated before and after the throttling component. The greater the fluid flow rate, the greater the differential pressure generated before and after the throttling element, and there is a definite functional relationship between this differential pressure value and the flow rate of the fluid flowing through it. Based on the above functional relationship, the measurement of fluid flow rate is achieved by measuring the differential pressure value.
