DP17 Pressure Reducing Valve Problem Elimination

DP17 / DP27 / DP143 Pressure Reducing Valve are all Pilot Operated Diaphragm Type Pressure Reducing Valve, which is mainly composed of Adjusting Spring, Pilot Valve, Main Valve, Main Valve Spring and inner Mesh and diaphragms in both pilot valve and main valve.

During Application, Pressure reducing valve is often installed before a Pressure Relief Valve or called safety valve. If the safety valve blows after installation, it means the pipeline pressure is too high and over the safety pressure. At this moment, users need to check if the Pressure Reducing Valve installed is working abnormally.

During Checking the Pressure Reducing Valves, users can try to loose the Adjusting Spring completely first. Generally speaking, when the adjusting spring was loosed completely, this Pressure Reducing Valve is at Completely Closed Status. It means the outlet pressure of this PRV should be ZERO. If the outlet pressure is not ZERO when the adjusting spring was loosed completely, it means this PRV is still allowing steam flowing. At this condition, users need to check if the Pilot Valve Disc was stuck or Main Valve Disc was Stuck or the Inner Mesh was blocked. If so, users need to remove the Impurities which caused the valve stuck or mesh block so as to keep the valve working normally again.

Important Notice: Before Installing a Pressure reducing Valve into a pipeline, try to clean the pipeline first and remove the dirt remains in the pipelines. Besides this, a Strainer with mesh size 100 must be installed before the pressure reducing valve and this strainer should also be cleaned regularly so as to protect the Pressure Reducing Valve's working performance.
